LPC Poultry, the original core business has evolved in line with industry standard and expectations developing world class facilities and providing best practice hen welfare and quality eggs. This diverse division also incorporates the rearing of layer pullets for placement in our production systems.

Evolution of the Poultry Division

2001 – Colony or aviary style caged facility was commenced to meet the changing needs of the industry and remove outdated cages.

2005 – Upgrade of Pullet Rearing facilities to accommodate newer facilities and production changes

2011 – First Free range facilities development commenced, responding to consumer demand

2018 – LPC Eggs Temora was developed with first eggs produced in 2019.

LPC Eggs Temora brings with it a new rearing site with boasting two new innovatively designed houses that accommodates 68,000 chicks. This new housing system allows birds to exhibit their natural behaviour while also maintaining a level of functionality that is both efficient and sustainable. At 16 weeks of age, the chicks are transferred to a state-of-the-art production site featuring 7 production houses accommodating a total of 240,000 hens. The housing system is specifically designed to compliment that of the rearing site. Each house has its own dedicated access to an expansive range area equipped with shade sails, trees, and shrubs.

There are plans for future development of LPC Eggs Temora which includes the construction of a second 7-shed free-range aviary production site in the Riverina. The development of this additional site will also require an expansion of an additional 2 sheds to the current rearing facility. When in full production, LPC Eggs Temora will produce approximately 9 million dozen first-grade eggs annually for the Australian market.

Free Ranging

As part of birds roaming outside of the house, we use straw and equipment to encourage the birds outside and to keep the hens active.

Aviary System

Whilst hens are inside the houses, it is also important that they are kept busy. With the installation of raised platforms, LPC is encouraging the hens to move around the house, jumping up to the perching and raised platforms, and then flying back down to the feeding and drinking areas.
